Carbon Action Team (CAT)
Carbon Action Team or CAT for short is a project that we have introduced with the help of our partners to three schools across the west and north west areas of Leeds. The project has been designed to raise awareness of climate change and how the children can help to combat this starting in the home! The school who really gets involved in the project will win an allotment makeover in order to make their school more sustainable and be crowned Carbon Action Team Champions! There will be two champions per class too who will win individual prizes!
Together with Kier, Connaught, FHM and Groundwork Leeds we have already delivered two of the three sessions. The first session about climate change and global warming, with the pupils designing their own class eco-town. In the second session, delivered by Groundwork Leeds, the pupils made draught excluder snakes to help increase the energy efficiency of their homes!
The third session scheduled to happen in May, will be delivered by our partnering contractors Kier, Connaught and FHM. The pupils will be making their ‘homes’ more energy efficient on a budget!
On completion of the three sessions there will be a celebratory champions assembly where the Carbon Action Team Champions will be revealed!
